At Cumbres International School México, we are proud to promote an English-rich environment where language learning becomes an integral part of each student’s academic and personal growth. As the English Coordinator for Middle School, I am pleased to share how our department works every day to enhance our students’ language proficiency through meaningful and engaging experiences.
From 7th to 9th grade, English is more than just a subject—it’s a constant. Teachers and students commit to using English at all times, creating a true immersion setting that builds fluency, confidence and authentic communication skills.
To reinforce this learning and celebrate their progress, our students participate in a variety of activities throughout the school year:
- Oratory Contests that help strengthen public speaking and persuasive communication.
- Model United Nations participation through Premio Lidera, where students debate global topics in English alongside peers from other schools.
- Creative Classroom Projects, carefully designed to apply vocabulary, grammar and oral skills in fun and innovative ways.
- STEAM Presentations during our annual Maker Fair, where students present Makerspace projects in English; combining science, technology and arts.
- International Events, such as the ISTE Conference, which allow students to explore trends in educational technology and present their ideas in English.
- Multicultural Trips, including the NASA Student Program in the U.S., where students engage with science and international peers, expanding their cultural and academic horizons.
- 9th Grade Debate, a culminating event that showcases their English mastery through argumentation, reasoning and persuasion.
These experiences are designed to foster not only language proficiency but also critical thinking, creativity and global citizenship.
